It was in August 2012, when we went to London by Malaysia Airlines A380. We chose that period because it was end of summer. The day was longer and weather was just nice, except occasionally it was wet.
Thistle Kensington Garden was the place we stayed. The place is within walking distance to tube (Bayswater and Queensway) and just opposite to Kensington Garden. There is Waitrose (mini-mart) below the hotel. The only grouse we had that the room size was small (nothing is cheap in London) but it was expected, other than that the hotel and staff were superb.
Along Bayswater and within walking distance to Queensway, the location made it an excellence choice especially to get halal foods. Malaysia Hall Canteen located within walking distance from the hotel. The address is 30-34, Queensborough Terrace London W2 3ST. The food was very cheap (by London standard) and the portion was very generous. There is prayer room provided for the guest. A notice can be seen at the door mentioned only Malaysian or guest accompanied by Malaysian is allowed. To easily locate the place, look for Jalur Gemilang – the Malaysia flag.
For Day 1, we went to Victoria & Albert Museum, Madame Tussauds and Tower Bridge. All were accessible by Tube. Our highlight for the first day was Madame Tussauds, not because of the celebrities but because of Spirit of London and Marvel Super Heroes 4D experience. We skipped the SCREAM because it was not suitable for our son. We bought the tickets online so we managed to skip the long queue at ticketing counter but still have to queue to enter. You may purchase the ticket here.
Day 2, to be continued.
